DecrimPovertyDC will be hosting a Direct Service Resource Fair and Rally on Monday, June 26th from 12:00-3:00 at Freedom Plaza. This is a local event representing a global day of action called Support, Don’t Punish which is about uplifting and fighting for drug policies that prioritize health and human rights.
Several direct resource providers and a mutual aid group will be tabling to provide: legal aid (expungement), housing connections, harm reduction supplies, SNAP information and connection, HIV/AIDS information, LGBTQ+ and women-specific re-entry services, and resource distribution (mutual aid).
At 1:30 we’ll have an informal Narcan training and the rally starts at 2:00 where we’ll get loud about drug criminalization and other intersecting experiences re: health, wellness, and bodily autonomy.
Participating organizations: HIPS, The Chosen Few, Miriam’s Kitchen, Who Speaks for Me, Rising for Justice, DC Hunger Solutions, Remora House, Father Mackenna Center
